This site is dedicated to all those people that use allotments. Like me they also know what hard work has to be done to get an allotment in shape. I have recently taken a full plot on and although it had been dug over last autumn the weeds were waist high. It had taken me a week on and off to get the plot as I wanted it, doing a bit of digging and then cropping and so on until I finished. I was lucky enough to happen on a plot that had recently come up. It is the second plot as you enter from the Henlow road end. I had been on the waiting list for just about a year so the wait was worth it bearing in mind some councils have a waiting list of five years and upwards.

On the site I have met a few allotment holders. Some fairly new like me and some that have been holders for thirty years and more. All very friendly and helpful. Over the coming months I hope to have some stories and pictures about the plots people and history of the allotments. If you look at the picture below on this page, Its the younger generation taking an interest,This is Oliver and his dad Jeremy on their plot.

Henlow Parish Council, have agreed to a web site being set-up subject to conditions they have set out and will support the allotment holders if they wish to turn the allotments into a full society with all the buying power that this will command.

If You feel that there is not enough allotments to go round, and would like to see more, not just in Henlow, but all the villages in the surrounding area, then please make your voice heard and follow the link and sign this petition. Thank you.
